Eurowind Energy Romania will develop a 1,200 MW wind farm in Botoșani County, the largest in Europe, an investment of over one billion euros.
The project, which will be carried out in stages until 2031, involves the construction of nine wind farms and will strengthen Romania's renewable energy capacity, with export potential.
At least for now, this capacity will become the largest onshore wind farm in Europe, according to local media, over Fosen Vind in Norway, completed in 2020, which has a capacity of 1,057 MW and is owned by Statkraft.
Before construction begins, the company will discuss with local communities and authorities to define the project's timeline, design, and technology.
This year, the company will put into operation the Pecineaga wind farm in Constanța County, with the largest turbines in Romania, of 48 MW – it has already installed all the turbines – as well as the Teiuș photovoltaic farm, in Alba County, with a power of 60 MW.
Eurowind Energy has been present on the Romanian market since 2011.
