The construction of the largest photovoltaic park in Europe, with a capacity of 1,044 MW, started in the summer of 2023 in the Pilu - Grăniceri area, Arad County. The total investment amounts to €1.4 billion, including a €200 million energy storage unit.

 The park will be operational in December 2024 and will deliver energy to the national grid. The project will create over 1,000 jobs during construction and up to 200 permanent jobs for operation and maintenance.

The developer Monsson plans to build two more photovoltaic parks in Arad county, with a total capacity of around 800 MW, by 2026.
